I had a wonderful experience with this company - the installation team was fantastic. I had cleared the land but they then installed 16 screws and built a wooden floor-frame all in about 4 hours. Everything was done to millimetre precision.

As a total newby at using ground screws, the information and advice on their site was fantastic, and when I reached out to Pav by phone he was of great assistance. The product was really easy to install, and I cannot overstate how much easier they are to use compared to digging post holes! 5 stars for product, customer service and delivery!

The Ground Screw Centre were really helpful answering the many questions I had before buying from them. The screws were great, I'm really happy I went for them rather than concrete. There's definitely a skill to putting them in, but once in they made a great support for out large garden lodge. Really recommend the screws and the team!!

The Ground screws were super easy to install myself. I recommend the ratcheted installation tool. And doing them after some rain when the ground is softer. Much easier and more pleasant than concrete. Fab customer service too!

Very positive experience with this company. Great communication from Pav in the office, nothing was too much trouble with some of the changes I wanted to make and the installation team were excellent, tidy, communicated throughout the job, which they did when they said they were going to do it. Really happy with my base for the new gym and highly recommend this company

I do not often leave reviews but on this occasion, I felt that I should because I think the service and product provided by The Ground Screw Centre was excellent. In the first instance I was attracted to TGSC because they offered a trial service; 1 ground screw, bracket and the rental of the ratchet tool. I was not sure that I would be able to get the screws into the ground. I did and the trial set gave me the confidence to proceed with the project.
I ordered the remaining brackets and screws and they arrived promptly. I then found that I had ordered the wrong size brackets. I rang TGSC and the replacement brackets arrived the next day special delivery and at no extra charge. I just had to return the wrong brackets once I had finished with the rental tool. BTW anyone thinking of this should definitely get the ratchet tool. All the ground screws are now in place with a sub-base built ready for my new log cabin. The alternative of a concrete base would have been significantly more difficult to do due to access and a slope to the ground, and I expect significantly more expensive.
Excellent Customer Service and a very good product

What Are Ground Screws?

Ground screws are engineered steel foundations that cater to a huge range of construction projects, from back garden DIY to heavy-duty commercial projects. Each ground screw is a strong galvanised steel shaft with helical blades that twist into the soil as it’s installed. Instead of digging trenches and pouring concrete, the screw is driven straight into the ground, creating an instant, secure foundation point.

Our ground screws come in a range of lengths and diameters to suit all sorts of projects. Shorter screws are well-suited for lighter jobs, such as sheds or decking, while longer, wider screws offer the capacity for garden rooms, annexes, extensions, and even commercial modular buildings.

Once installed, the head of the screw sits above ground, ready to connect with brackets that attach directly to your structure. This flexible design means they’re just as at home under a timber frame in a back garden as they are under solar arrays or larger commercial units.

In simple terms, ground screws give you the same outcome as a concrete foundation – a strong, stable, load-bearing base – but they do it faster, with less mess, and with the flexibility modern projects need.

Why Choose Ground Screws – Faster, Cleaner, Stronger

The first thing most people notice about ground screws is the speed – but speed is only part of the story. Ground screws solve the frustrations that make foundations such a stressful stage of building. They simplify logistics, minimise disruption, and provide reliability from day one.

How Do Ground Screws Work?

Ground screws create strong, reliable foundations by anchoring deep into stable soil layers. Instead of spreading loads across a wide slab, each screw transfers the weight of your structure straight down its shaft and into the earth. The helical blades lock into the ground, preventing both downward movement and uplift from wind or shifting soil.

Ground Screws vs Concrete – What’s the Difference?

For decades, concrete was the default choice for foundations. Strong, solid, and familiar – but also slow, messy, and resource-heavy.

Ground screws achieve the same goal of stable, load-bearing support, but in a very different way. Understanding the difference helps you see why so many builders, homeowners, and developers are making the switch.

Both systems achieve stable foundations, but ground screws do so faster, cleaner, and more sustainably. Whether you’re building a garden office, a school classroom, or an entire solar farm, screws offer the strength of concrete without the disruption.

That’s why more builders and homeowners are choosing them – and why concrete is no longer the default answer for foundations.

The Installation Process

Installation is typically straightforward. The footprint of your structure is marked out, and screws are placed precisely where support is needed.

Using either manual tools for small projects or machine-powered drivers for larger builds, the screws are rotated into the ground until they reach the right depth and resistance.

Because the blades cut and compact the soil as they go, the surrounding earth strengthens during installation. Once the screws are in place, brackets are fitted to the heads, providing level mounting points ready to connect directly to timber, steel, or modular frames.

Most installations take just a few hours. There’s no drying time, no need for multiple site visits, and no pause before construction can begin – your structure can be built immediately.

Working With Different Sites

Because screws are installed individually, they can adapt to conditions on site.

On a sloping garden, each screw can be set at a slightly different depth and still provide a perfectly level frame.

When tree roots or underground services are present, screws can be positioned carefully around them without disturbing what’s below the surface.

Long-Term Durability

Ground screws are built for decades of service life. The hot-dip galvanised coating resists corrosion even in challenging soil conditions, while deep anchoring means they’re unaffected by surface soil movement or frost action that can damage shallow foundations.

For homeowners, this means confidence that their garden room or deck will stay level year after year. For businesses, it means foundations that won’t compromise their long-term investment.
